The Dental Assisting program at Coastal Medical Training Institute prepares each student for employment as a Dental Assistant. Students will gain the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully pass a National Certification.
As a Dental Assistant, you will perform clinical duties under the direction of a dentist. Clinical duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during dental procedures and treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. May perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Dental Assistant’s will also record treatment information in patient records and expose dental diagnostic x-rays. One will be able to perform duties in all fields of dentistry such as Orthodontics, General Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, and Periodontics. They can work the front desk of a dental practice, with a traveling dental unlit, in a dental laboratory, conduct as needed services, and more.
