The Medical Assistant

As a medical assistant, you will work directly with doctors and patients. Medical Assistants serve both administrative and clinical functions. You should be prepared to perform both, depending on the needs of the facility in which you work. Below is a brief listing of job summaries.

Medical assisting is a multi-skilled allied health profession; practitioners work primarily in ambulatory settings such as medical offices and clinics. Medical assistants function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures.

This program is designed to prepare competent medical assistants in cognitive (knowledge), psycho motor (hands-on skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains; and to attain employment within the healthcare setting and to prepare successful candidates for the national certification exam.

Medical assistants hold the fastest-growing occupations in the United States today. Rapid growth in the demand for healthcare makes this profession a great choice for people who want to get into the medical field. The greatest demand will be for medical assistants who have formal education and relevant, professional credentials in the field.

Phlebotomy Technician

A phlebotomist in the state of Mississippi can perform basic duties as required by the job. Currently, there are no federal requirements for licensure or certification. The rules for phlebotomy are set by each state. Every state has separate requirements for its phlebotomists. There are just four states which require a certification or license to draw blood. These states are: Washington, Nevada, Louisiana, and California. You can check here for more information:

www.npce.org/which-states-require-phlebotomy-certification

The Medical Administrative Assistant

As a medical administrative assistant, you will work directly with doctors and patients. Medical Administrative Assistants serve both administrative and clinical functions. You should be prepared to perform both, depending on the needs of the facility in which you work. Below is a brief listing of job summaries.

As a Medical Administrative Assistant, your daily responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, necessitating strong multitasking and prioritization skills. It is crucial that you demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.

Your role will involve interviewing patients to gather case histories before appointments, updating and maintaining patients' health records, assisting with initial paperwork, and scheduling and coordinating appointments. Compliance with legal requirements is essential.

Additionally, you will be responsible for managing receivable and payable accounts, maintaining financial records, addressing patients' queries to ensure quality customer service, and collaborating with doctors and nurses to facilitate medical examinations, schedule tests, and order supplies. It is imperative to stay current with changes in medical and insurance legislation to ensure compliance with established procedures.

The EKG Technician

The EKG Technician course at Coastal Medical Training Institute is a comprehensive and dynamic program designed to prepare students for a fulfilling career in the medical field. Over the span of 8 weeks, students will immerse themselves in the fascinating world of electrocardiography, gaining the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to excel as an EKG Technician. This course is meticulously structured to ensure that students are well-prepared to sit for the Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam through American Allied Health, a credential that will significantly enhance their employability and professional standing.

Throughout the course, students will engage with SIMTICS online training modules, which offer an interactive and practical approach to learning. These modules are complemented by 208 course hours and 40 online virtual clinical hours, providing a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students will learn to operate EKG machines, understand and interpret EKG readings, and recognize normal and abnormal heart rhythms. Additionally, the curriculum covers patient preparation, understanding the cardiovascular system, and the fundamentals of cardiac physiology and anatomy.

EKG Technicians play a crucial role in the healthcare system, and the demand for skilled professionals in this field is on the rise. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of cardiovascular technologists and technicians is projected to grow 5% from 2021 to 2031, faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is driven by an aging population and the increasing prevalence of heart disease, creating a robust job market for EKG Technicians. In terms of earnings, EKG Technicians can expect to earn an average annual salary of over $36,000, with the potential for higher earnings as they gain experience and additional certifications.

Embarking on a career as an EKG Technician offers not only financial stability but also the satisfaction of contributing to patient care and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. The work is both challenging and rewarding, providing a sense of accomplishment and purpose. By enrolling in the EKG Technician course at Coastal Medical Training Institute, students are taking a significant step towards a stable and gratifying career in the healthcare sector. The journey begins with quality education and training, and Coastal Medical Training Institute is dedicated to providing students with the best start in their medical careers.

If it is required, then the student will need to locate a school or training facility in their area that provides a (dental radiology seminar) which is usually a one-day seminar that includes the dental radiology exam. The fees for those vary depending on the location. Normally between $150 to $350. A lot of times this falls under “continuing education” at junior colleges or “dental hygiene department.” Google will be your best friend in helping you locate a place. (Do I need to take a CPR class?) We highly recommend that all students become CPR-certified. Students can Google providers in their area. It is important to take a course through “American Heart” and be trained in BLS/AED.
